Summer Night Lights - Jobs Available

Description: The City of Los Angeles is starting to hire staff for their Summer Night Lights 2020 program. Your students can qualify for the lead squad positions (17- 24 years old) or the youth squad positions (17 – 24 years old).
Annenberg Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement
Audience: High School Students

Program Dates: Monday, June 15, 2020 – Friday, July 10, 2020
Program Time: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m, at Wallis Annenberg Hall (ANN)
Description: The Annenberg Youth Academy for Media and Civic Engagement is a four-week summer intensive academy for 26 talented high school students from the communities surrounding the USC University Park and Health Science Campuses. Students are exposed to the equivalent of first-year college-level courses and develop a rich conceptual understanding and practice of the necessary role that media communications and journalism play in fashioning civic-minded thought leaders and innovators. *meals included!
Ellison Institute of USC
Audience: Rising seniors
Deadline: April 2, 2020
Dates: June 15th to July 2nd, 2020.
Description: a free, three-week program for students interested in clinical or research oncology. Students will have first-hand experience in research labs, as they complete various experiments under the guidance of USC research faculty & staff. The Junior Fellows will also spend time with clinic staff to learn more about clinic operations and putting research into practice with patients. Convening on California's STEM Teacher & Teacher of Color Shortage

GMiS STEM Scholarships
Deadline: 11:59 PM PST - April 1, 2020
Audience: Current seniors, undergraduate and college graduate students of Hispanic descent and/or demonstrate significant leadership or service within the underserved community;
Description: The GMiS merit-based scholarships, range from $500 - $10,000. Applicants must demonstrate merit through academic achievement, leadership, service and campus/community engagement. Scholarship recipients will receive complimentary registration, lodging and travel to the 2020 GMiS Conference, which will be held from October 7 - 10, 2020, at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, in Lake Buena Vista, FL. At the Conference, awardees will receive their GMiS Scholars medallion.
Eligibility: Pursuing or intending to pursue a science, technology, engineering, math or health-related field of study at an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the U.S. or its territories; and possessing an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
