How it Works
Girls Build is challenging young women from public middle and high schools across the country to make an impact in their community and ensure that their voices are heard and represented. We believe young women will define the vision for what our schools, communities, and country can be, and that work starts now!
LA Promise Fund selects 65 teams to compete in the Girls Build Challenge. Each team selected to participate will receive grant funding and training to implement an organic, community-based, and data-driven solution to their challenge. Teachers / coordinators will receive a stipend to support the project. All projects must incorporate civic engagement that extends beyond their school, and must center around three issue pillars: civic engagement; Health & Wellness; and STEM and College Access.
Participating teams will create a website, develop social media campaigns, and use professional communication tools to share their progress throughout the program. We will select 55 teams from where we are based in Los Angeles, and ten teams from cities across the United States.
