Year Long Program |
The LA Promise Fund established GirlsBuild in 2014 to empower thousands of young women annually throughout LA and across the country to effect social change and become leaders in their communities.
The Summit Nov 13th
Through the annual GirlsBuild summit, over 60,000 young women from Los Angeles and beyond have been inspired to drive social change and assume leadership roles in their communities by addressing local challenges. This year’s GirlsBuild Summit will feature a screening of Barbie and unite over 1,000 students in person & 1,000 virtual with contemporary trailblazers, influential entrepreneurs, innovators, and change-makers to collectively address pressing issues that profoundly influence the lives of both our girls and our communities as well empower them for a social movement.
The Day of Service Nov 18th from 8am-2pm
This year we are proud partner with Mayor Karen Bass and build upon the leadership and female empowerment theme by encouraging the girls to join her in combatting homelessness – a theme for the GirlsBuild year around projects. Following the summit our students, supporters, and volunteers will come together November 18th to assemble 2500 carekits of essential items and supplies for people experiencing homelessness across LA County.

GirlsBuild #WhateverTheyWant
Started in 2014 as an initiative of the LA Promise Fund, GirlsBuild has quickly established itself as one of the most powerful and impactful female youth initiatives of our time. The impact of our programs has been immediate and immense, both in the lives of our girls, as well as their communities. GirlsBuild Summit is an interactive experience designed to ENGAGE, INSPIRE, and EMPOWER over 5,000 young girls of color from middle schools and high schools nationwide. We bring them together with today's most powerful leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, and change-makers to tackle the critical issues that shape the lives of our girls and our communities. |
Some of our past speakers include: Michelle Obama, Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, Janelle Monáe, Octavia Spencer, Dolores Huerta, Shonda Rhimes, and more. |
This year, the LA Promise Fund is teaming up with a coalition of organizations and service providers to support the unhoused community in LA County at the 2023 GirlsBuild Summit.
