1. What is the Girls Build Summit? Is this the same thing as the Girls Build Challenge / Application?
No, the Girls Build Summit is a signature Girls Build event that we put together once a year-- this event is open to all public middle and high schools in LA County.

2. What schools can sign up?
Any public high school in Los Angeles County can sign up.
3. How many students can we bring?
Schools can bring up to 50 people total (average one adult per 10 students) this includes students, teachers, and chaperones. This means you should aim for 45 students and 5 adults on average.
4. How do I know if my school is going? Will I get a confirmation?
You will be notified via email if your school has been confirmed. Note that space is limited, so register today!
5. Which students can we bring?
This event is for 11th and 12th grade students who identify as female only. Chaperones can be male or female.
6. Can we bring boys?
No, this event is for girls only. Any student that identifies as female is welcome to attend.
7. Are you supplying buses?
FOR ALL SCHOOLS:
We will reimburse a maximum of $450 per bus for 1 bus per school. Every bus must take between 40 and 50 people. In order to be reimbursed for buses, you must provide an invoice and W9 to [email protected] by November 10,, 2018.

8. This is an early dismissal day for my school, can we still attend?
Yes, you can still attend the day, but will have to work out logistics to get students home. You will not be able to leave the event any earlier than 1pm.
9. Will there be lunch provided?
Yes, lunch will be provided for students and chaperones. The lunch options will be turkey or vegetarian sandwiches. We will not be able to offer a purely vegan option. We recommend that students who are vegan or have specific gluten or wheat allergies bring their own food for the day.
10. Do I need to be a Girls Build team to register for this event?
No, you do not have to be a Girls Build team to attend this event.
11. Do I need to know exactly which students I am bringing?
We don't need to know exact names but you should keep your own list for your records. We would also like you to have media release forms on file for all your students. You can find them here in English and Spanish.
12. Can I adjust my number of participants attending later?
It’s possible. However, we are beyond capacity and currently limiting every school to 50 people (recommended: 45 students/ 5 adults) If you get cancellations, we recommend that you find other attendees to fill those spots. If you need more seats, you will be placed on a wait list and we will do our best to accommodate.
13. Is the Galen Center an LAUSD-approved field trip site?
Yes, we are working directly with LAUSD Risk Management and have received blanket approval for the LA Convention Center as a field trip site.
14. What is the logistics for the event?

12:30pm - 1:00pm - Grab lunch, return to buses.
Please plan ahead and note that it will take extra time to exit the event and return to your bus. Exiting 10,000 people safely from one space is a timely process.

15. Do we need Media Release forms?
There will be press and media during the event. We recommend that you get students to fill out media release forms (we have them in English and Spanish) and keep them in your records internally.
16. Do we need to create our own field trip slips?
Yes, you should handle field trip slips in the same way you do all your field trips.
17. What should we bring to the event?
Please bring just the essentials (as little as possible). All attendees will have to go through security, and this will help speed up the process.
18. What should we wear to the event?
Schools can follow their regular school dress code or dress casual. There is no need to dress up (unless you want to!). It will be very crowded, so you may want your school to wear a certain color or a school uniform or t-shirt in order to identify each other quickly. We recommend dressing comfortably and to wear comfortable shoes.
19. Where should our bus enter? How should we label our bus?
Please look at the Bus Drop-off Map and print the sign for your bus.

Your pick-up location is the same location where you got dropped off in the morning. Please coordinate with your bus driver directly.
We expect the event to end at 12:30pm and then we will dismiss and distribute lunches on your way out.
We will have close to 200 buses coming to this event. The majority of buses will be parking on their own. We will have staff and traffic managers helping as much as possible.
- The event is at the West Hall at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
- There will be signs and staff showing you where to find us. You may see other buses dropping off in other locations, but we very much encourage you to use your designated location.
- Please exchange phone numbers with your bus driver as well as take note of your bus number / routing number so that you can let them know when you are ready to be picked-up.
