How to View the Summit:

If you're an Educator looking to creatively host, consider:
  • Hosting a "field trip" or assembly to have your students watch in groups
  • Host via your individual classrooms
  • Re-arrange bell schedules to accommodate the Summit's time frame
Other opportunities:
  • Consider assigning our Summit as community service hours
  • Consider the overlap of our GirlsBuild Challenge with perhaps your own school's senior projects (if applicable)
  • Encourage students, especially seniors, to list their attendance to our virtual summit as a conference attended within college applications
If you would like to brainstorm any more ideas, feel free to contact us: girlsbuild@lapromisefund.org

Register Now, stay tuned, and don't forget to take part in Jason's Environmental Challenge for a chance to have your submission featured during our Summit!

Summit Watch Party Guidance
Educators, here are some ways you can prepare to host and make the most of our Summit:

1

(Pre-Event- Call to Action) JOIN THE JASON MOMOA CHALLENGE

Let's Change the World Together! Get students activated and excited about their power to make a difference in the world!

Students (youth 13+) can be a part of the growing #GenGeo community of young people committed to exploring connections, taking action for our planet, and inspiring a sustainable future.

IMPORTANT: Use THIS sign-up form to become a part of the #GenGeo Society.

3

IDENTIFY LOCAL CONSERVATION/SUSTAINABILITY ORGANIZATIONS
Take advantage of this prime opportunity to discover more about local and regional organizations that are also setting out to protect our planet.
  • California Environmental Justice Alliance is a statewide organization that is community-led and empowers those most impacted by environmental hazards-low income communities and communities of color-to create opportunities for change.
  • While major environmental changes require countries and large corporations to make vital decisions, we as individuals can make a difference NOW and have local and community-led initiatives towards more sustainable lives; check out these 7 ways in which you can protect the environment and challenge yourself to try some of these out with your school, friends, or family.

4

FACILITATE DIALOGUE
Encourage students to ask questions and discuss what they are hearing! The conversations happening on screen will likely raise thoughts and opinions. Encourage students to share those thoughts in the chat and see what discussions get sparked.

Lead with encouragement
  • What questions does this bring up?
  • What speaker resonates with you?
  • What was said that you would like to learn more about?
  • What are your thoughts about what the panel is saying?

5

FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH OUR SPEAKERS
Learn more about our panels and speakers and e
ncourage students to google them as well to share out interesting facts they learn with everyone else.
Special thanks to our partners at Microsoft for their support in making this virtual GirlsBuild Summit possible through Microsoft Teams!
