Team Event Strategy: We know teams are in meetings doing a ton of planning for some big event ideas. Why not test run something out at lunch or at a school-wide event like a game or production? Working on health and wellness - share yoga poses on your Instagram, do a breathing meditation before a test taking day. Working on STEM? Choose an Hour of Code activity or Made with Code activity and share out school-wide and host a gathering (maybe to teach parents!) in a classroom. All these activities build out your audience and messaging!

What Challenges are you Facing? What challenges are you facing? Or share a challenge you overcame and how you did it. Share your stories and questions here. Or you can always email us: girlsbuild@lapromisefund.org

Final project Deadline: May 5th is the deadline to turn in your final website and an end-of-year video. The rubric  and guidelines are found on our Curriculum page.

Resource of the Week - Get Schooled  This site has a badge program, surveys, and articles dealing with many of your topics. There is even a middle school challenge. It is possible to create accounts or just do one activity as a stand alone.

Shout out to:
  • Mujeres Con Animo  at Animo Leadership Charter  - for introducing their team members through Instagram and connecting the team members to the topic of female empowerment and issues for undocumented community members
  • Leak Protectors  from Animo Jackie Robinson who passed out feminine hygiene kits while sending positive vibes out through Instagram.
  • Bronx Bright Project  for taking control of their project. They are in teams and marketing and outreach teams who are presenting and applying for extra funding! The technical team is exploring lighting designs and layout for the park installation using a design software called Dialux. Check out their site to learn more
  • Aspirations in Computing Winners  from Los Angeles: Lennox Academy, GALA, Foshay Learning Center, CAMS, Garfield, LA Canada, and SOAR High School. We believe there are also winners from Starkville, MS. Shout out to Educator Award winners from GALA, Palmdale Learning Plaza. Did we miss you! Please let us know (we only have access to the Los Angeles winners).
