They’re here – our newest cohort of Girls Build teams this school year! 65 teams from all over the country have taken on the Girls Build challenge where they will tackle issues they see in their community, like:
  1. Saving the bees! First-time team at Baxter College Ready High School in California wants to help regrow the bee population as they are largely responsible for the things essential to our lives such as food, animals, and plants.
  2. Upcycling plastic bags into sleeping mats – a two-pronged approach to address pollution and homelessness by the team in Pulaski Heights Middle School in Arkansas.
  3. Reducing negative impact that food desserts create by providing and empowering the community with healthier food options through bi-weekly farmers markets with organic produce grown from their very own school garden at Manual Arts High School in South Los Angeles.

We can't wait to see more as the school year unfolds!

Follow along and learn more about each team throughout the year by going to www.girls-build.org/year-5.

It's super important that everyone gets to contribute. It's part of the experience, it's part of how you grow. Think about something on the project that you are passionate about, that you would do well at at – and step up!
